be(r)nice.

voy a cambiar vidas.

i write a lot. i have this little notebook that i carry with me everywhere.

porque este mundo es increíble.

i love tumblrs. because people these days are so quick to judge and if you happen upon this site, you get a whole different perspective of someone you thought you knew.

because sometimes we don't speak aloud all we want to say. and written words preserve the moment's intensity.

“It is necessary to write, if the days are not to slip emptily by. How else, indeed, to clap the net over the butterfly of the moment? For the moment passes, it is forgotten; the mood is gone; life itself is gone. That is where the writer scores over his fellows: he catches the changes of his mind on the hop.”

on speaking chinese

so i talk to my grandpa and i listen to his stories for hours on end
but sometimes i can’t understand half the things he says
just because some of the words he uses are never used in everyday conversation
and during our chinese new year dinner, my mom and aunt said we can only speak in chinese or else you lose money
and throughout the whole dinner, everyone was struggling
even my mom admitted it was hard because english has become so prominent in our lives
and my cousin who’s like 10 didn’t even say anything the whole time
his chinese sucks so badly
and it’s so disappointing
and some chinese teenagers can’t even speak chinese- they call them “jook sings”
there’s no direct translation
but it’s not positive
and i just think it’s really important to be able to speak your language
they call america the “tossed salad” recently instead of the “melting pot” because the idea is that you maintain your culture even after immigrating here
but it seems to be slowly slipping with the generations
