be(r)nice.

voy a cambiar vidas.

i write a lot. i have this little notebook that i carry with me everywhere.

porque este mundo es increíble.

i love tumblrs. because people these days are so quick to judge and if you happen upon this site, you get a whole different perspective of someone you thought you knew.

because sometimes we don't speak aloud all we want to say. and written words preserve the moment's intensity.

“It is necessary to write, if the days are not to slip emptily by. How else, indeed, to clap the net over the butterfly of the moment? For the moment passes, it is forgotten; the mood is gone; life itself is gone. That is where the writer scores over his fellows: he catches the changes of his mind on the hop.”

crazy stuff- more on Asian Americans

-Violence is a growing issue among Asian American youth; Asian American youth have the highest percentage of juvenile violent crime—21% in contrast to Blacks (17%),  Whites (16%) as well as a steady increase in arrests.

-Lack of data about Asian Americans has contributed to a lack of understanding of issues facing Asian American youth. Historically, Asian Americans have been counted as “other,” thus masking trends and issues specific to the population.

- Some of the few studies on Asian youth find higher rates of depression and suicide. For example, The Commonwealth Fund (1998) found that 30% of Asian American girls in grades 5‐12 reported depressive symptoms, and as with adolescents in general, suicide was the third highest cause of death among AAPI youth ages 15‐24.

^Today it’s the second highest cause of death in AAPI women 15-24
